    Description
    This course will explore developmentally appropriate guidance and discipline for children from birth through middle childhood. Strategies and techniques for developing and maintaining an encouraging classroom will be studied. The historical perspectives of guidance and discipline will be studied as well as new trends, classroom techniques, and teaching strategies. The roles of family, community, and school in the encouraging classroom and the development of a child's democratic life skills will be explored.
